B Cell Oct binding protein 1 (BOB-1), is a transcription factor that is required for germinal center formation and immunoglobulin production. BOB-1 is expressed at high levels in spleen and peripheral blood leukocytes and represents an OCT co-factor capable of conferring cell specific activation of OCT-1 and OCT-1, binding to their POU domain and mediating transcriptional activity of octamer motifs to varying degrees. Reportedly, BOB-1 is a required component of both the B-cell to antigen response and germinal center formation. The highest observed expression for BOB-1 is in plasma cells and B-cell germinal centers Expression of BOB.1/OBF.1 is restricted largerly to B lymphocytes. Various lymphomas are also positive for this marker including the following: B-Chronic lymphoytic leukemia, mantle cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma, marginal zone lymphoma, plasmacytoma, Burkitt lymphoma diffuse large cell lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, T- cell rich B-cell lymphoma, nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma, whereas classic Hodgkin lymphoma is usually negative.
