(20 tests(RTU))

Cells with multiple copies of chromosome 7 and extra EGFR signals (green).

eFISH EGFR/CEN 7 Dual Color Probe hybridized to normal interphase cells as indicated by two orange and two green signals in each nucleus.

EGFR gene amplification frequently observed in solid neoplasms. eFISH EGFR/CEN 7 Dual Color Probe has affinity to this gene. The EGFR gene (a.k.a. ERBB1 and HER1) is located in the chromosomal region 7p11.2 and encodes a transmembrane glycoprotein acting as a cellular growth factor receptor. The use of BioGenex eFISH EGFR/CEN7 in interphase and normal chromosome 7 produces two EGFR signals and two chromosome 7 signals. These signals appear green with hybridized EGFR probe and orange when hybridized to alpha-satellite-sequences of centromere of chromosome 7, when appropriate filter sets are used. In cases of increased gene amplification in these regions, an increased number of gene signals are visible.
