Translocations involving the chromosomal region 12q13 harboring the CHOP (C/EBP-homologous protein) gene (a.k.a. DDIT3, GADD153) has affinity by eFISH CHOP Dual Color Break Apart Probe. The CHOP gene encodes for a stress induced dominant-negative inhibitor of the transcription factors C/EBP and LAP. The use of eFISH CHOP Dual Color Break Apart Probe along with appropriate filters produces green and orange hybridization signals of labeled 12q13 chromosomal region. Where as an indication of translocation is observed by the appearance of one separate green and orange signal.
